KEGG   ENZYME: 1.1.1.347
Entry
EC 1.1.1.347                Enzyme
Name
geraniol dehydrogenase (NAD+);
GeDH;
geoA (gene name)
Class
Oxidoreductases;
Acting on the CH-OH group of donors;
With NAD+ or NADP+ as acceptor
Sysname
geraniol:NAD+ oxidoreductase
Reaction(IUBMB)
geraniol + NAD+ = geranial + NADH + H+ [RN:R10308]
Reaction(KEGG)
R10308
Substrate
geraniol [CPD:C01500];
NAD+ [CPD:C00003]
Product
geranial [CPD:C01499];
NADH [CPD:C00004];
H+ [CPD:C00080]
Comment
The enzyme from the bacterium Castellaniella defragrans is most active in vitro with perillyl alcohol [2]. The enzyme from the prune mite Carpoglyphus lactis also acts (more slowly) on farnesol but not on nerol [1].
