KEGG   ENZYME: 1.14.13.215
Entry
EC 1.14.13.215              Enzyme
Name
protoasukamycin 4-monooxygenase
Class
Oxidoreductases;
Acting on paired donors, with incorporation or reduction of molecular oxygen;
With NADH or NADPH as one donor, and incorporation of one atom of oxygen into the other donor
Sysname
protoasukamycin,NADH:oxygen oxidoreductase (4-hydroxylating)
Reaction(IUBMB)
protoasukamycin + NADH + H+ + O2 = 4-hydroxyprotoasukamycin + NAD+ + H2O [RN:R11155]
Reaction(KEGG)
R11155
Substrate
protoasukamycin [CPD:C21145];
NADH [CPD:C00004];
H+ [CPD:C00080];
O2 [CPD:C00007]
Product
4-hydroxyprotoasukamycin [CPD:C21146];
NAD+ [CPD:C00003];
H2O [CPD:C00001]
Comment
The enzyme, characterized from the bacterium Streptomyces nodosus subsp. asukaensis, is involved in the biosynthesis of the antibiotic asukamycin. Requires a flavin cofactor, with no preference among FMN, FAD or riboflavin. When flavin concentration is low, activity is enhanced by the presence of the NADH-dependent flavin-reductase AsuE2.
