KEGG   ENZYME: 1.14.13.228
Entry
EC 1.14.13.228              Enzyme
Name
jasmonic acid 12-hydroxylase;
ABM (gene name)
Class
Oxidoreductases;
Acting on paired donors, with incorporation or reduction of molecular oxygen;
With NADH or NADPH as one donor, and incorporation of one atom of oxygen into the other donor
Sysname
jasmonate,NADPH:oxygen oxidoreductase (12-hydroxylating)
Reaction(IUBMB)
(-)-jasmonate + NADPH + H+ + O2 = trans-12-hydroxyjasmonate + NADP+ + H2O [RN:R11446]
Reaction(KEGG)
R11446
Substrate
(-)-jasmonate [CPD:C08491];
NADPH [CPD:C00005];
H+ [CPD:C00080];
O2 [CPD:C00007]
Product
trans-12-hydroxyjasmonate [CPD:C21385];
NADP+ [CPD:C00006];
H2O [CPD:C00001]
Comment
Although believed to occur in plants, the enzyme has so far been characterized only from the rice blast fungus, Magnaporthe oryzae. The fungus strategically deploys the enzyme to hydroxylate and inactivate endogenous jasmonate to evade the jasmonate-based innate immunity in rice plants.
