Entry
EC 1.14.14.165              Enzyme
Name
indole-3-carbonyl nitrile 4-hydroxylase;
CYP82C2
Class
Oxidoreductases;
Acting on paired donors, with incorporation or reduction of molecular oxygen;
With reduced flavin or flavoprotein as one donor, and incorporation of one atom of oxygen into the other donor
Sysname
indole-3-carbonyl nitrile,[reduced NADPH---hemoprotein reductase]:oxygen oxidoreductase (4-hydroxylating)
Reaction(IUBMB)
indole-3-carbonyl nitrile + [reduced NADPH---hemoprotein reductase] + O2 = 4-hydroxyindole-3-carbonyl nitrile + [oxidized NADPH---hemoprotein reductase] + H2O [RN:R12232]
Reaction(KEGG)
R12232;
(other) R12858
Substrate
indole-3-carbonyl nitrile [CPD:C22015];
[reduced NADPH---hemoprotein reductase] [CPD:C03024];
O2 [CPD:C00007]
Product
4-hydroxyindole-3-carbonyl nitrile [CPD:C22016];
[oxidized NADPH---hemoprotein reductase] [CPD:C03161];
H2O [CPD:C00001]
Comment
A cytochrome P-450 (heme-thiolate) protein characterized from the plant Arabidopsis thaliana. Involved in biosynthesis of small cyanogenic compounds that take part in pathogen defense. The enzyme also catalyses the 5-hydroxylation of xanthotoxin [1].
