Entry
EC 1.14.19.50               Enzyme
Name
noroxomaritidine synthase;
CYP96T1 (gene name)
Class
Oxidoreductases;
Acting on paired donors, with incorporation or reduction of molecular oxygen;
With oxidation of a pair of donors resulting in the reduction of O2 to two molecules of water
Sysname
4'-O-methylnorbelladine,NADPH---hemoprotein reductase:oxygen oxidoreductase (noroxomaritidine-forming)
Reaction(IUBMB)
(1) 4'-O-methylnorbelladine + [reduced NADPH---hemoprotein reductase] + O2 = (4aR,10bS)-noroxomaritidine + [oxidized NADPH---hemoprotein reductase] + 2 H2O [RN:R11483];
(2) 4'-O-methylnorbelladine + [reduced NADPH---hemoprotein reductase] + O2 = (4aS,10bR)-noroxomaritidine + [oxidized NADPH---hemoprotein reductase] + 2 H2O [RN:R11482]
Reaction(KEGG)
R11482 R11483
Substrate
4'-O-methylnorbelladine [CPD:C16702];
[reduced NADPH---hemoprotein reductase] [CPD:C03024];
O2 [CPD:C00007]
Product
(4aR,10bS)-noroxomaritidine [CPD:C21406];
[oxidized NADPH---hemoprotein reductase] [CPD:C03161];
H2O [CPD:C00001];
(4aS,10bR)-noroxomaritidine [CPD:C21405]
Comment
A P-450 (heme-thiolate) enzyme. The enzyme, characterized from Narcissus pseudonarcissus (daffodil), forms the two enantiomers of the Amaryllidacea alkaloid noroxomaritidine by catalysing intramolecular oxidative para-para' phenol coupling. The oxidation involves molecular oxygen without its incorporation into the product.
