KEGG   ENZYME: 1.14.19.51
Entry
EC 1.14.19.51               Enzyme
Name
(S)-corytuberine synthase;
CYP80G2
Class
Oxidoreductases;
Acting on paired donors, with incorporation or reduction of molecular oxygen;
With oxidation of a pair of donors resulting in the reduction of O2 to two molecules of water
Sysname
(S)-reticuline,NADPH:oxygen oxidoreductase (C-C phenol-coupling; (S)-corytuberine-forming)
Reaction(IUBMB)
(S)-reticuline + [reduced NADPH---hemoprotein reductase] + O2 = (S)-corytuberine + [oxidized NADPH---hemoprotein reductase] + 2 H2O. [RN:R08790]
Reaction(KEGG)
R08790
Substrate
(S)-reticuline [CPD:C02105];
[reduced NADPH---hemoprotein reductase] [CPD:C03024];
O2 [CPD:C00007]
Product
(S)-corytuberine [CPD:C17591];
[oxidized NADPH---hemoprotein reductase] [CPD:C03161];
H2O.
Comment
A cytochrome P-450 (heme-thiolate) protein. The enzyme is involved in the biosynthesis of the quaternary benzylisoquinoline alkaloid magnoflorine in the plant Coptis japonica. It is specific for (S)-reticuline.
