Entry
EC 2.1.1.339                Enzyme
Name
xanthohumol 4-O-methyltransferase;
OMT2 (ambiguous);
S-adenosyl-L-methionine:xanthohumol 4'-O-methyltransferase (incorrect);
xanthohumol 4'-O-methyltransferase (incorrect)
Class
Transferases;
Transferring one-carbon groups;
Methyltransferases
Sysname
S-adenosyl-L-methionine:xanthohumol 4-O-methyltransferase
Reaction(IUBMB)
S-adenosyl-L-methionine + xanthohumol = S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine + 4-O-methylxanthohumol [RN:R12264]
Reaction(KEGG)
R12264
Substrate
S-adenosyl-L-methionine [CPD:C00019];
xanthohumol [CPD:C16417]
Product
S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine [CPD:C00021];
4-O-methylxanthohumol [CPD:C22048]
Comment
The enzyme from hops (Humulus lupulus) has a broad substrate specificity. The best substrates in vitro are resveratrol, desmethylxanthohumol, naringenin chalcone and isoliquiritigenin.
