KEGG   ENZYME: 2.1.1.352
Entry
EC 2.1.1.352                Enzyme
Name
3-O-acetyl-4'-O-demethylpapaveroxine 4'-O-methyltransferase
Class
Transferases;
Transferring one-carbon groups;
Methyltransferases
Sysname
S-adenosyl-L-methionine:3-O-acetyl-4'-O-demethylpapaveroxine 4'-O-methyltransferase
Reaction(IUBMB)
S-adenosyl-L-methionine + 3-O-acetyl-4'-O-demethylpapaveroxine = S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine + 3-O-acetylpapaveroxine [RN:R11692]
Reaction(KEGG)
R11692;
(other) R12262
Substrate
S-adenosyl-L-methionine [CPD:C00019];
3-O-acetyl-4'-O-demethylpapaveroxine [CPD:C21590]
Product
S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine [CPD:C00021];
3-O-acetylpapaveroxine [CPD:C21591]
Comment
This activity is part of the noscapine biosynthesis pathway, as characterized in the plant Papaver somniferum (opium poppy). It is catalysed by heterodimeric complexes of the OMT2 gene product and the product of either OMT3 or 6OMT. OMT2 is the catalytic subunit in both complexes.
