Entry
EC 2.3.1.302                Enzyme
Name
hydroxycinnamoyl-CoA:5-hydroxyanthranilate N-hydroxycinnamoyltransferase;
HHT1 (gene name);
HHT4 (gene name)
Class
Transferases;
Acyltransferases;
Transferring groups other than aminoacyl groups
Sysname
hydroxycinnamoyl-CoA:5-hydroxyanthranilate N-hydroxycinnamoyltransferase
Reaction(IUBMB)
(1) (E)-4-coumaroyl-CoA + 5-hydroxyanthranilate = avenanthramide A + CoA [RN:R12736];
(2) (E)-caffeoyl-CoA + 5-hydroxyanthranilate = avenanthramide C + CoA [RN:R12737]
Reaction(KEGG)
R12736 R12737
Substrate
(E)-4-coumaroyl-CoA [CPD:C00223];
5-hydroxyanthranilate [CPD:C22371];
(E)-caffeoyl-CoA
Product
avenanthramide A [CPD:C08472];
CoA [CPD:C00010];
avenanthramide C [CPD:C22372]
Comment
The enzyme participates in the biosynthesis of avenanthramides, phenolic alkaloids found mainly in oats (Avena sativa). It is related to EC 2.3.1.133, shikimate O-hydroxycinnamoyltransferase. The enzyme from oat does not accept feruloyl-CoA as a substrate.
