KEGG   ENZYME: 2.4.1.332
Entry
EC 2.4.1.332                Enzyme
Name
1,2-alpha-glucosylglycerol phosphorylase;
2-O-alpha-D-glucopyranosylglycerol phosphorylase
Class
Transferases;
Glycosyltransferases;
Hexosyltransferases
Sysname
2-O-alpha-D-glucopyranosyl-glycerol:phosphate beta-D-glucosyltransferase
Reaction(IUBMB)
2-O-alpha-D-glucopyranosyl-glycerol + phosphate = beta-D-glucose 1-phosphate + glycerol [RN:R11127]
Reaction(KEGG)
R11127
Substrate
2-O-alpha-D-glucopyranosyl-glycerol [CPD:C11546];
phosphate [CPD:C00009]
Product
beta-D-glucose 1-phosphate [CPD:C00663];
glycerol [CPD:C00116]
Comment
The enzyme has been isolated from the bacterium Bacillus selenitireducens. In the absence of glycerol the enzyme produces alpha-D-glucopyranose and phosphate from beta-D-glucopyranose 1-phosphate. In this reaction the glucosyl residue is transferred to a water molecule with an inversion of the anomeric conformation.
