Name
tau-cadinol synthase
Class
Lyases;
Carbon-oxygen lyases;
Acting on phosphates
Sysname
(2E,6E)-farnesyl-diphosphate diphosphate-lyase (cyclizing, tau-cadinol-forming)
Reaction(IUBMB)
(2E,6E)-farnesyl diphosphate + H2O = tau-cadinol + diphosphate [RN:R11838]
Reaction(KEGG)
R11838
Substrate
(2E,6E)-farnesyl diphosphate [CPD:C00448];
H2O [CPD:C00001]
Product
tau-cadinol [CPD:C21695];
diphosphate [CPD:C00013]
Comment
Isolated from the plant Inula hupehensis. The enzyme also gives 10-epi-juneol and traces of other terpenoids, see EC 4.2.3.172, 10-epi-juneol synthase. It has also been isolated from the plants maize (Zea mays) and lavender (Lavandula angustifolia).
