KEGG   ENZYME: 4.2.3.81
Entry
EC 4.2.3.81                 Enzyme
Name
exo-alpha-bergamotene synthase;
trans-alpha-bergamotene synthase;
LaBERS (gene name)
Class
Lyases;
Carbon-oxygen lyases;
Acting on phosphates
Sysname
(2E,6E)-farnesyl diphosphate lyase (cyclizing, (-)-exo-alpha-bergamotene-forming)
Reaction(IUBMB)
(2E,6E)-farnesyl diphosphate = (-)-exo-alpha-bergamotene + diphosphate [RN:R10732]
Reaction(KEGG)
R10732
Substrate
(2E,6E)-farnesyl diphosphate [CPD:C00448]
Product
(-)-exo-alpha-bergamotene [CPD:C20811];
diphosphate [CPD:C00013]
Comment
The enzyme synthesizes a mixture of sesquiterpenoids from (2E,6E)-farnesyl diphosphate. As well as (-)-exo-alpha-bergamotene (74%) there were (E)-nerolidol (10%), (Z)-alpha-bisabolene (6%), (E)-beta-farnesene (5%) and beta-sesquiphellandrene (1%).
